Artist Statement
There is a reciprocity that comes from the physical act of painting that allows me to learn
more about my ideas than I had previously understood. The process reinforces a need to
have a personal/psychological connection with the figure. Color and the idea of a
history (of the painting) are important in my process. Color decisions evolve and change hopefully
empowering the picture surface.
